Goldsborough Hall - AA 5 Gold Star rated accommodation

The Wharton Suite

The Wharton suite faces west across the grounds and towards the woodland, enjoying
the afternoon sun. The room features traditional half wood panelling and a large stone mullioned window.

History:
By the late 1600s the Hutton family had only daughters. The eldest, Mary, married into the Wharton family, a relation of Lord Wharton, and made their home at the Hall. Her sister married the elder son of the Byerley family, moving to Midridge Grange in Northumberland. When Mary Wharton had only daughters herself, Mary’s eldest married Robert, the younger son of her sister, ensuring the estate remained within the family.
